Why Our School Chooses Not to Pursue State Accreditation

Families considering Christian education often ask whether our school is accredited by the State of Illinois. The answer is no—and that choice is intentional.

Our decision not to pursue state accreditation is not rooted in a rejection of excellence or accountability. Rather, it stems from our commitment to maintaining a distinctly Christian, covenantal education that is governed by biblical convictions rather than by state educational standards.

Our Primary Commitment Is to Christ

As a covenantal Christian school, we believe that education is not religiously neutral. Every subject, every lesson, and every aspect of school life is taught from a distinctly Christian worldview. We exist to partner with Christian parents in the discipleship and education of their children, helping them develop wisdom, knowledge, and character that honors Christ.

Because of this mission, we believe our first responsibility is to remain faithful to God’s Word and the biblical principles upon which our school was founded.

Preserving Educational Independence

State accreditation often involves adherence to standards, policies, and oversight established by governmental agencies. While many of these standards may be well-intentioned, they are ultimately developed outside the authority structure God has established for Christian families and churches.

By remaining independent, our school retains the freedom to determine curriculum, instructional methods, hiring practices, and educational priorities according to our biblical convictions. This allows us to maintain consistency between our mission, our teaching, and our community’s shared faith commitments.

Accountability Without State Accreditation

Choosing not to pursue state accreditation does not mean we operate without accountability. Our school is accountable to our school board, our families, and most importantly, to God.

We continually evaluate our academic programs, student outcomes, and educational practices to ensure that we provide a rigorous and effective education. The measure of a school’s quality is not merely a government-issued accreditation status but the fruit it produces in the lives of its students.

Our Goal: Faithfulness and Excellence

Our goal is not isolation from the broader educational community, nor is it resistance for its own sake. Our goal is to provide an excellent education that is unapologetically biblical. We believe that preserving the freedom to educate from a biblical worldview is worth protecting. By remaining independent, we can continue to offer an education that places Christ at the center of all learning and seeks to equip students to love God, serve others, and live faithfully in His world.

That commitment—to faithfulness, truth, and Christian discipleship—is why we choose not to pursue state accreditation.
