Education in the Primary Years.

Why is education in the primary grades so important?

The first six years of a child’s education is considered the child’s primary education. This is such an important time in a child’s educational career. These six years set the foundation of learning, the love for learning, and prepares them to be successful for future years of education.

In these first years at Solid Rock, we focus on phonics, developing a love for reading, math foundational skills, problem solving, and so much more. At Solid Rock we also have time for enrichment activities such as Family Consumer Science and Spanish, both starting in Kindergarten. We want our students to be well rounded in all areas of life in order to be confident and successful learners.

In these primary grades student soak up knowledge. In Kindergarten they have curiosity time; they dive into a topic once a week that the students are interested in. The First Graders are currently studying space and are each working on a presentation about the planets.  In our 2nd/3rd Grade class, they are doing research on mammals to create a poster on their findings.

We also love to use these primary grades to fill our students with Biblical truths. The students memorize one Bible verse a month as a school, and in their classrooms they memorize more! It is Biblical that we hide Biblical truths in our hearts. This month students are memorizing Psalms 46:10, along with the sign language to go with it.

The beginning of your child’s education is so important. At Solid Rock we pray that families see their child receiving a well rounded education with a biblical foundation, because that is what we strive for: an education with a firm foundation!!
